FINN JUHL

FINN JUHL

Finn Juhl began his studies at the Faculty of Architecture at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen in the 1930s, when the emergence of modern furniture design was gaining momentum. During his education, he collaborated with the renowned Danish architect Vilhelm Lauritzen, participating in significant projects such as the Danish Broadcasting House and Copenhagen Airport. A noteworthy milestone in Finn's professional career was the creation of the interiors of the Trusteeship Council chamber at the United Nations headquarters in New York.

The Finn Juhl furniture brand is a striking example of Scandinavian design that has gained worldwide recognition. Finn Juhl was an outstanding designer and visionary who became one of the pioneers of modern design in Denmark. His works are characterized by elegance, functionality, and aesthetic value.

Finn Juhl created furniture based on principles of simplicity and harmony. His designs often reflect a love for organic forms and natural materials, mainly wood. He employed various types of wood, including walnut and beech, which ensured the durability and quality of his products.

One of his most iconic creations is the Chieftain chair. Due to its expressive lines and unparalleled comfort, it has become a symbol of modern design. The Chieftain features a unique construction with high armrests and a wide seat. It is a beautiful addition to any space and a magnificent relaxing place.

Another notable piece is the Wall sofa from 1950. This item, inspired by free art, defies gravity, as its steel frame is attached to the wall, which gives the sofa its name.

Finn Juhl's influence on furniture design is hard to overstate. He served as a bridge between traditional Scandinavian style and contemporary trends, paving the way for many future designers.
