&Tradition is a Danish furniture brand founded by Martin Kornbek Hansen in 2010. The name &Tradition immediately reveals the company's core philosophy, which lies in combining traditional craftsmanship techniques with modern manufacturing methods. From the very beginning, the brand's founder set out to rejuvenate Scandinavian design while preserving its roots and cultural characteristics.
This is why &Tradition draws inspiration from the rich history of Danish design, including the works of Arne Jacobsen, Verner Panton, and Jørn Utzon. One could say that &Tradition revives and reinterprets timeless interior pieces.
One example is the brand’s production of the Flowerpot lamp, originally designed by Verner Panton in the late 1960s. This piece epitomizes Panton's visionary use of bright colors and playful shapes, embodying the spirit of an era that challenged conventions.
Another well-known item from the brand is the Mayor AJ5 chair, created in collaboration with Arne Jacobsen back in 1939. Despite its considerable age, the chair's design remains relevant and in demand.
In addition to honoring historic designs, &Tradition also strives to push the boundaries of contemporary furniture design. The brand collaborates with a wide array of distinguished individuals, creating a dynamic creative environment. For instance, partnerships with Jaime Hayon and Samuel Wilkinson have added several innovative and aesthetically captivating items to the brand’s portfolio—such as the Passepartout lamp and the Blown lamp.
The designers at the factory prefer working with natural materials: wood, stone, textiles, lacquered metal, and more. &Tradition’s diverse collection of furniture, lighting, and home accessories offers solutions for a wide range of interiors, as the factory's creations are minimalist yet easily recognizable.
