The name of the B&B Italia brand has long been inscribed in gold letters in the history of interior design for its unique developments and significant contribution to the formation of a new stage of Italian furniture art. The style of the brand reflects the character of its founder, Piero Ambrogio Busnelli, who is also bold and charismatic.
B&B Italia furniture has always been distinguished by its durability, innovativeness - in design and technology, and, of course, creativity, which sometimes has a provocative character. But how could it be otherwise - the Italian temperament is also read here. Therefore, each new collection is full of sensuality and passion.
The company itself appeared in 1966 and has been conquering new heights of industrial design one after another ever since. During its existence, B&B Italia has been awarded the prestigious Compasso d'Oro prize four times, which is awarded every three years; so the brand has been a benchmark and undisputed leader in its field for many decades.
Although, the release of each new model immediately attracted a lot of attention, some of them sounded especially loud and revolutionary. So in 1969, the Up chair, designed by Gaetano Pesce, became a real sensation due to a real break in both technological and social conventions. The juicy curves rather resembled ancient fertility sculptures, and the ottoman was even designed in the likeness of a ball with a chain. At the same time, the structure of the chair was similar to a sponge: it could be easily squeezed into a vacuum, and then in open space, it inflated and returned to its original shape.
A year later, Mario Bellini presented the B&B Italia Camaleonda super-modular sofa, which was originally created "just to fill the void." In the end, an ultra-functional piece of furniture was obtained, which could be infinitely modified thanks to the innovative system of ropes, rings, and hooks. 1972 was marked by the release of the Le Bambole set, also under the leadership of Mario Bellini. The highlight of the collection was a chair that resembled a soft voluminous pillow, in which you just want to drown. In 2022, a small capsule collection Stella McCartney x B&B Italia was released, dedicated to the 50th anniversary of Le Bambole.
By the way, this is not the first collaboration of the brand. The company often invites designers, architects, and artists to collaborate. At one time, such titans of modern art as Zaha Hadid, Monica Armani, Jeffrey Bernett, Michael Anastasiades, Patricia Urquiola, and many others worked on B&B Italia collections. In recent years, most of the collections have been developed by the legendary architect Piero Lissoni, who has been the company's creative director since 2021.
Today, B&B Italia offers a wide range of furniture for all types of spaces and interiors. The best craftsmen of the Apennine Peninsula work on creating furniture for bedrooms, dining rooms, living rooms, libraries, wardrobes, and even spa areas.
B&B Italia is furniture that goes beyond the ordinary and becomes a true work of art. It is a brand with a philosophy, where behind every model, there is a whole story.
