Refinement, sensual flow of lines, and meticulous attention to details – just a few characteristics of Molteni&C.
The story of this Italian brand began in 1934, when the young ambitious entrepreneur, Angelo Molteni, opened his workshop in the province of Monza-e-Brianza, a furniture hub in Italy. Thanks to the skillful craftsmanship and the high quality of their products, the fame of the brand spread rapidly. Soon, what started as a small artisanal shop transformed into a full-fledged factory. Molteni was among the first Italian industrialists to completely automate production, efficiently producing components for their furniture. Even today, Molteni&C remains one of the most technologically advanced furniture manufacturers in the world.
In the 1970s, Arredamenti di Angelo Molteni began active collaborations with other manufacturers. That’s how Citterio firm has joined them, adding the "&C" initial to the brand's name. During this period, under the leadership of legendary designers Angelo Mangiarotti and Luigi Meda, the company introduced a revolutionary modular system for case furniture, setting a new trend in interior design for the following decades. Created back then iconic models such as 505, 7VOLTE7, and PASA are still on the list of the most popular items.
In the 90s, prompted by the renowned designer Jean Nouvel, the brand boldly incorporated cutting-edge technological innovations into its production, consequently fueling greater interest and attention towards its creations.
Collaborations with renowned designers have always been a signature feature of the company. Over the years, Molteni&C has worked with illustrious creators such as Aldo Rossi, Rodolfo Dordoni, Gio Ponti, Foster + Partners, and many more. At the moment, the position of the brand's Creative Director is held by the Belgian architect and designer Vincent Van Duysen, who successfully incorporates the rich heritage of the furniture house in the design of new models.
