L'Abysse Monte Carlo

The luxurious restaurant L'Abysse Monte Carlo in Monaco combines French cuisine with Japanese culinary traditions. This unique feature inspired the interior design. The project designer, Laurence Bonnel, wanted to convey a French vision of Japan. Materials such as marble, travertine, wood, ceramics, and velvet were used to achieve this.

The marble used in the interior has a light gray shade with flecks of pink. According to the designer, these marble panels reminded her of a Japanese mountain pattern within the stone. The velvet fabric upholstering the furniture contrasts beautifully with the white ceramic decor and marble elements, bringing softness and coziness to the restaurant's interior.

L'Abysse Monte Carlo also features decor and artworks that evoke associations with the sea, such as the Coral Wall installation by artist William Coggin and a large soft indigo carpet created by Laurence Bonnel in collaboration with Rowin Atelier.

Cyrus

The spaces of the Cyrus restaurant, designed by Olson Kundig, flow seamlessly into one another and feature a subdued color palette. The designer used this approach to make the restaurant's interiors feel like an organic extension of the local nature, allowing the patrons' attention to be focused on the artistry of the cuisine.

However, this doesn't mean the establishment's design lacks noteworthy elements. The restaurant spaces are filled with natural light thanks to panoramic windows that offer stunning views of the rolling landscape and vineyards. Moreover, the interiors made of wood and glass blend perfectly with the surrounding nature, creating a unique, harmonious, and serene atmosphere.

El Fant Café

In creating the El Fant cafe and bar in Helsinki, the Finnish design studio Yatofu aimed to reflect the key features of Finnish design in a contemporary interpretation.

The central bar area, made of steel and developed in collaboration with the metalworking workshop Paja&Bureau, adds a touch of industrial modernity to the space. Pine was chosen as the material for all the furniture due to its historical significance in Finnish craftsmanship, natural characteristics, and durability. Moreover, the combination of pine and cold steel perfectly balances each other.

Nearly Ninth

The elegant Nearly Ninth restaurant in New York offers a seasonal Italian menu referencing classic American dishes, which is also reflected in the interior design. The team at Meyer Davis created a warm and welcoming space with a distinct character. To achieve this, the interiors feature neutral tones, unique designer light fixtures, and art pieces.

Superfreak

Drawing on the relaxed aesthetic of the 1970s, the Australian studio YSG chose a color palette for the Superfreak cafe in Sydney that includes neutral sandy yellows, greens, and deep browns.

The establishment's retro style is further enhanced by semi-transparent checkered curtains and vintage furniture, such as a low wooden table tiled on top and wooden dining chairs. Additionally, the more one examines the cafe's interiors, the more interesting details can be noticed. For instance, the same brown carpet material used for the seating in the dining area has been applied to the outside of the open kitchen counter and the tops of its tall stools.
